Divorce doesn't separate two married people.
It separates much more.
It separates child from child;
It separates family from family;
It separates ignorance from reality,
And has a strangely blinding effect.
But at the same time, it separates nothing:
Not good from evil,
Not right from wrong,
Not blameworthy from innocent
Nothing.
Instead, it blurs the lines,
Wreaks havoc, feeds confusion,
And breeds destruction.
Everything becomes surreal.
And everything falls away.
My friends,
This is not merely a legal institution.
This bears all the dressings
Of humanity itself,
And when it breaks,
It can
And will
Break you.

Begin, murderer. Pox, leave thy damnable faces and begin. Come, the croaking raven doth bellow for revenge.
And other strains of woe, which now seem woe,
Compared with loss of thee, will not seem so.
